Head of House
Mr. Leobald Kitridge has been considered a Hogwarts staple (and inspiration) for many years now. A man of intelligence and great wisdom, he's always had the best intentions for those beneath the Ravenclaw banner, as well as those not of his house. And when it comes to kindness, empathy, and acceptance, one would be hard pressed to find any school educator more adept to the needs of their students. Read on as we delve into the inner workings of this truly magnificent man.
1. Mr. Kitridge, it is a pleasure, as always. Before we get down to business, I just wanted to congratulate you on your longevity, seeing as this term marks your SEVENTH as head Eagle. What's it like coming back each term...AND can we expect several more to follow?
When you say it like that, I feel quite old, dear girl. Yes, seven years is a milestone, and Hogwarts is a fantastic place. Coming back to it each term is something I do with joy, as moulding and educating young minds is among my greatest pleasures in life. Especially when I can do so in the way of books. The Hogwarts library is the stuff dreams are made of.
2. You just out-Ravenclawed yourself, Mr. Head Ravenclaw. So, there's been a notable camaraderie among the Hogwarts Professors (and faculty) over the past several years. Do you have any that you are particularly close with?
Yes, I have established some close friendships over the years. For example, Javier (Javy) Thompson is the godfather of my son, Jackson. Cosgrach Culloden is another close friend that I regularly exchange correspondence with. Currently on staff, however, I'm closest with Arthur Newton and Paul Myers.
3. That's some very good company you're keeping! Now, while you already had an established working relationship with Penelope Wright from the term before, you added Rooney Bronwyn to your team this year. What was it like implementing him into your process? He's a joyful young man! Would you say he and Penelope meshed well together?
Rooney and Penelope have worked well together, as a team, throughout this term. Especially in helping the younger students solve problems. I remember how they, together, ended a heated argument at the start of the year. I was forced to step in towards the end but they did exceptionally well up until that point. Yes, Rooney is a joyful young man, who possesses the ability to brighten anyone's day, which I think truly aided him in his Prefect venture this year. And Penelope's calm attitude, positivity, and general helpfulness has done the Eagles well for these past two terms. I'm proud of them both.
4. That was beautiful. I hope they both understand how beloved they are! Okay, this year started quietly enough, but all the real drama came towards the end. Do you think Hogwarts is just a magnet for these types of situations? Or do you think it's simply the nature of the beast, given that we do exist in such a fantastical world?
I think it's a combination of both, actually. Hogwarts seems to be a magnet for drama, given that rarely a year passes without something out of the ordinary happening. But that's part of the Hogwarts charm, I think. Hogwarts wouldn't be Hogwarts if there wasn't a poltergeist causing mischief or if everyone in a class didn't get love potioned by accident. We live in a fantastic world full of magical creatures and wonderments, and we should embrace that that's how it should be. We'd miss the drama and oddities if they didn't happen, wouldn't we?
5. Too true! Lastly, I know as a Professor and Head of House, that you're proud of your students no matter the situation, but what goals are you hoping to work towards moving forward?
You hit the nail on the head, my dear. I'm always proud of my students, regardless of what they do. Moving forward, I hope to continue working on house unity and promoting interhouse friendships. The students are far from home when they're here, and they require a support system when things get tough. Another goal is to keep up with the excellent point earnings in the House Cup race. Ravenclaw finished first last year and second this year, and it is my hope that, with hard studying, we will continue to be formidable.

Prefects
Penelope Wright, Prefect extraordinaire, has been the epitome of intelligence and class throughout this year of Hogwarts’ unique brand of craziness. A beacon for Ravenclaw, as well as the rest of the school’s population, she has done her best in providing guidance and advice to all those who've looked to her for assistance. In fact, it seems as though there is nothing this lady can't do. Today, I was able to sit down with our resident Head Girl and ask some very important questions, and she was kind enough to humor me!
1. I know you must be so swamped since you do sit your NEWTs this week, but we greatly appreciate your time! So, this was it! The final term. What was it like back in September, stepping onto the Hogwarts Express to return for the last time?
Hello! It’s a pleasure to be here with you today. I’ve been very busy studying for NEWTs. Stepping onto the Hogwarts Express for the last time I was really excited to be coming back this term as Head Girl, but it was also sad because it was my last Hogwarts Express journey to school.
2. Yes, so very sad. I certainly cannot imagine the feels! Now, on top of returning for another term as Prefect, what was it like receiving the owl carrying the Head Girl badge? That must have felt like quite an honor, what being chosen by your Head of House and other school officials an all.
It was an amazing surprise and I wasn’t expecting it at all when I received the owl from the school informing me that I’d been selected by the staff as Head Girl.
3. A well earned surprise, for sure! In your opinion, what were the highlights of this term? How about the returning Hag?
It was really nice not to get anything in my hair at the feasts this term. My Ravenclaw family has been the highlight of every day. I was shocked when I learned that the Hag had returned and tried to eat students. We’re lucky that no one died.
4. Too true. So, how do you feel about glitter? This is SO important to me!
Glitter is really fun and I love how it makes things pretty and sparkly! I really like writing with glitter ink, and glitter can also be used as a distraction for herds of nifflers that are destroying your dorm. The only thing I don’t like about glitter is how it gets everywhere and on everything.
5. Yes, YES! It does make all the things sparkle like lovely stars! Are there any fun traditions the Ravenclaws get up to in that airy common room? Also, what about that view?! Having a tower common room is the best, right?!
You can see all of the school grounds from the windows in the tower, and the view is absolutely breathtaking on a clear day.
6. Tower dorms are definitely the best, agreed! Also, what's it been like working with my theater bestie this year? I mean Rooney Bronwyn...if you didn't know.
Roo! I was really excited to work with Rooney this year and so proud of him for being chosen as a prefect in his fourth year! He was a perfect prefect partner. He’s good at keeping calm in a crisis and having him around really helps me to stay calm and focused. Sometimes it’s difficult to work with him when he doesn’t understand how I’m thinking, but we work together well enough.
7. You complicated Claws. I suppose you must be super smart to have made it through seven years of Hogwarts. Do you have any favorite subjects? Professors? Clubs and activities?
My favorite subjects are astronomy, charms, and transfiguration. Some of my favorite professors and staff members are Professor Flamsteed and our handsome Head of House Mr. Kitridge. Mr. Kitridge has been a wonderful Head of House for all seven years that I’ve been here and the Ravenclaws will greatly miss him. I participate in the book club, the dueling club, and the gobstones club. This term I really enjoyed playing gobstones. Anyone can play, and it doesn’t require a lot of time commitment.
8. I've never too much gotten into Gobstones, but your reasoning is sound! Okay, what are you most looking forward to post!graduation? Have you already chosen a university to attend? Or do you plan to go right into a career?
I’m going to study advanced transfiguration, advanced experimental charms, and secondary wizarding education at Edinburgh WU. I’ve always been interested in the theory of experimental magic. Might see me back here as a professor at some point in the future.
9. Wow. That's impressive! Almost finished here….Is there any specific advice you wish to pass along to all the Ravenclaws you'll leave behind?
Stand up for what you believe in. Be yourself. Pursue your passions. Be authentic, be unique. You are special.
10. Perfect. In conclusion, because I know you're super busy...what magical creature do you most associate with? There are literally so many to choose from!
Maybe a hippogriff? They’re intelligent and carefully select the people that they like.

Joining the Ravenclaw leadership team this year, Rooney Bronwyn obviously planned to bring his own brand of dramatic flair and sparkle to the role of Ravenclaw Prefect. Only a Fourth Year, this strong-willed, but uniquely driven boy seemed to have all the tools for a successful first badged term. In fact, his goals and ten-year plan alone would make many other students weep. There may have been a few bumps and bruises along the way, obvious character development written into his "very dramatic autobiography", but he's the fabulous Sparkle King we all know and love! So, read on and get to know our resident Ravvie!theatre buff!
1. Firstly, you are an absolute theater rockstar, Rooney Bronwyn. Thank you for taking the time out of your busy day (with Prefect duties and THEATER THINGS) to answer a few questions! So, to start, what was your reaction when you first found out you'd been picked for Prefect?
Thanks! Actually, I was a little disappointed, because the owl came to me with my letter in the middle of my stay at camp. With muggles. So I had to climb into a tree to get it, thinking it was Diarmuid Banner replying to my fan mail. After the initial eh, I was thrilled. I always wear my Mum’s Hufflepuff Prefect badge inside of my robes too. Ever since my first year. – That sounds so cringe.
2. ...But I don't find that to be cringe at all. No, in fact, I think it's inspirational! You clearly had your eyes on the prize and it must've rubbed off in a big way! So, what does it mean to you to be chosen by Mr. Kitridge (and other school officials) to represent House Ravenclaw?
Fantastic. I have a forthright respect for people in positions similar to Mr. Kitridge and always have. My goals from the age of four were to be a Prefect and later on Minister for Magic (specifically a positive influence like Minister Leonard Spencer-Moon), and so to be offered the position in my fourth year was a complete dream come true.
3. Gosh, you have it all figured out for yourself, don't you?! In your opinion, what were the highlights of this term? Was there anything in particular that made you especially happy? Wary and upset?
I made Charlotte Kettleburn cry, and I’d like it to be down on paper and forever immortalised that I am sorry for that.
4. Oh, to be young and feel love's keen sting.....Ahem, are you an academic, Rooney? Do you have favorite subjects? Favorite professors? Or are they all created equal in your eyes?
I have little affection towards Professors outside of their job to teach me. I teach myself more as I understand my needs and attention to detail. Professor Myers is definitely someone that everyone should experience in education.
5. Yes, we can agree that Professor Myers is brilliant and a true inspiration to all, given his very dramatic lessons this term, Speaking of, is there one thing that Hogwarts is lacking right now? Maybe a particular club? We know you love the drama!
Future politicians. I actually don’t have an interest in going to a club based around my love for theatre. I like to surround myself with other professionals as opposed to those with a hobby. It keeps me focused.
6. Ah, I see! Better to leave that to the professionals, eh? How about them Claws. Are there any fun traditions the Ravenclaws get up to in that airy common room? I've heard wonderful things about it.
That’s for us to know, and you to dream you were part of. Actually, our traditions are pretty elusive, unexpected and quite simple. If it’s good, then don’t change it.
7. Veeeery curious, Mr. Bronwyn. Very. Hehe, how do you survive staying so far away from the kitchen on the ground floor? Do you just plan really well in advance? Stock pile snacks?!
I keep good friends with people that appreciate the necessity of food.
8. You're delegating already! Your political future will be a strong one! Switching gears a little, what's it been like working with Head Girl Penelope?
She tends to panic and go from 0 – 100 in no time at all, but she’s a great person and I know she’ll do great at whatever she puts her heart to. I wish her all the best after graduation and think she’s made Sophie Brown proud.
9. That was perfectly lovely. Aww! So, what are you most looking forward to next term? You'll be breaking in a new partner, of sorts!
Exams!
10. So, you ARE an academic! I knew it! LASTLY, Mr. Bronwyn, if you were a Bertie Bott's Every Flavor Bean, what flavor would you be?...This is important information!
Whatever success tastes like.
